National Teacher Appreciation Week is May 6-10, 2024. The Michigan Department of Education’s (MDE) Office of Educator Excellence (OEE) wishes to celebrate teachers across Michigan for the entire month of May.
MDE invites parents to submit 15-30 second videos of their students recognizing and thanking a specific teacher for their impact. Nothing fancy is required—cell phones can capture the videos. Please follow the directions on the flyer. Videos and parental consent may be submitted via the Teacher Appreciation Video Project Google Form. Videos are currently being accepted until Friday, April 19, 2024.
Submitted videos may be posted on the Teacher Appreciation Month webpage and the MDE’s YouTube channel. The Office of Educator Excellence Facebook (@MIeducator) and X (formerly Twitter) social media pages will be promoting the videos throughout the month of May.
If you have a child with great things to say about a teacher, don’t hesitate—use the instructions found on our website to submit a video today!

These students won literacy baskets. They earned tickets from reading and participating in dress up days!

The City of Hartford has planned a Spring Break event for the community on April 5th from 11am-1pm!
During the event we will have a “touch a truck” with various pieces of equipment from our community groups. We will also have volunteers from our community organizations set up at each basketball hoop to play a game of “huskies” (similar to "PIG") with the kids that come. On top of all of that, the Fire Department Auxiliary is providing food that will be prepared by Smokin’ D’s Food truck.

Capturing Kid's Hearts March (Courage Month) Shout Outs:
Aniya Rodarte, 3rd Grade: She has adapted to change very well, She has a new Baby Brother at home and has been extremely helpful. At school Aniya will say Sorry to someone if she does something wrong or admit that she did. It took her alot of Courage to accept the role of wave council & she’s doing Amazing. As well as joining Basketball for the first time this year, She went into it not knowing much about the sport & gave it her all.
Colton Runge, Kindergarten: Colton has never been a very outgoing or talkative child in school. He is super shy and has struggled with talking in front of a class. He is slowly starting to come out of his shell and when asked what he did on the weekend, he doesn’t hesitate to tell his class. At home when we are trying to read he is showing courage by not being afraid to not have the correct answer. His confidence is just improving and he’s becoming brave to speak up.
Brady Beltran, 2nd Grade: Brady was playing around in the cafeteria and had accidentally spilled juice on a peers food. He was honest about the mistake and showed courage by taking responsibility for his actions. He did the right thing and even replaced his peers food.
Aiden Hutchins, 5th Grade: Aiden showed courage when he was asked to travel to the middle school for an introduction to 6th grade. He was able to step out of his comfort zone and had a great time learning about his new school.
Congratulations to all students who received a shout out and showed incredible courage this month! April is perseverance month, if you want to shout out a student who you feel has shown great perseverance, please fill out this form: https://forms.gle/QALRB3r9tF1twPWx5
